A free screening clinic for children from birth to 5 years will take place Thursday at the United Methodist Church, 210 Soule in Dodge City. The clinic will help parents determine if their child's development is appropriate for their age.
Areas to be tested include concepts, motor skills, social development, speech, vision and hearing. Immunization, physical and nutritional information will also be available.
Four local agencies are partnering to make the clinic possible: Arrowhead West Inc., Southwest Kansas Area Cooperative District, Area Mental Health and USD 443.
Arrowhead West will be offering hearing tests using the Ero-Scan OAE, which eliminates the need for a verbal response from the child, allowing children of all ages and abilities to be successfully tested. The Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas provided funds for purchase of the equipment.
Appointments are necessary so screenings can be efficiently scheduled. To schedule an appointment for your child, call 227-1661. Spanish interpreters are available.rmine if their child's development is appropriate for their age.
