As a cost-saving measure, the state may order district court employees to take weeklong furloughs next year.
That possibility prompted the Ford County Commission to consider what it should do with bailiffs and interpreters for Ford County District Court if court closings are implemented. Most court employees work for the state, but bailiffs and interpreters are considered county employees.
It's possible that those employees would be assigned to other tasks during the furloughs.
The commission took its first look at the issue Monday but delayed making a decision until its next meeting.
