Cancer can be treacherous, and it can leave you feeling lonely and lost. But, when times get tough, there’s no one who understands it better than someone who has been through the same experience.
This was the case for breast cancer survivors LeAnn Gamaehlich Yost and Paula Oaks Little. Both women were born and raised in Dodge City and lived in Kansas City.
“Oddly enough, Paula and I grew up within the same block of each other here in Dodge. However, we didn’t even really know each other,” said Yost.
The two were reconnected through their struggle with breast cancer, 30 years after they last saw each other.
“Cancer can truly bring about beautiful things, and one is the gift of a special bond of friendship," Little said Friday during the annual Relay for Life fundraiser for cancer research.
