Two years after someone stole Frank and Mary Blansett's gun safe, the victims are offering an extra incentive for tipsters with information about the theft.
The Blansetts are putting up $8,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever stole the gun safe, Frank Blansett told the Globe earlier this week. The $8,000 would be on top of any money from the local CrimeStoppers program, which rewards tipsters for information that helps police crack unsolved cases.
Someone stole the Blansetts' gun safe, along with antique guns, jewelry and other items, on Oct. 19, 2007. The Dodge City Police Department recovered three of the guns and returned them to the Blansetts the next month, but other items are still missing.
Blansett said the list of missing items includes a semi-automatic rifle, a silver-colored Netgear Ethernet switch, a fax modem and $10,000 worth of gold rings.
