Bail bondsman Rebecca Escalante was compelled to testify Tuesday about what, if anything, she knew about potential threats to Sam Bonilla safety, following s subpoena from Ford County Attorney Terry Malone.
Malone confirmed that Escalante had answered questions during the closed hearing, known as an inquisition, but said he could not discuss her testimony. He added that she had invoked her Fifth Amendment right to remain silent at one point, but he could not discuss the circumstances.
Malone said he does not plan to call Escalante back to court for further testimony.
Escalante told a Daily Globe reporter seeking comment late Tuesday afternoon that she would e-mail him a written statement. However, the statement had not arrived by press time.
