Hospice training set for Sept. 20

    Hospice of the Prairie and Prairie Home Health are seeking individuals in the community who are interested in learning about being a hospice volunteer.
    A one-day hospice training session is scheduled for Sept. 20 at the Hospice of the Prairie office, located at 200 Fourth Circle in Dodge City. The program will start at 9 a.m. and end promptly at 4 p.m. Luncheon will be served.
    The training covers such topics as: "History and Philosophy of Hospice Care," "The Physical, Spiritual and Emotional Needs of the Terminally Ill," "The Grief Experience" and "The Role of the Hospice Volunteer."
    The training is open to those interested in increasing their knowledge of these subjects, as well as individuals wanting to join the hospice team as a volunteer. Those who attend the training do not have to become volunteers; they can attend just to receive information about hospice care.
    Hospice services are provided in Clark, Comanche, Edwards, Finney, Ford, Gray, Haskell, Hodgeman, Kiowa, Lane,  Meade, Ness, Pawnee and Seward counties. For more information or to enroll, please contact Carolyn Eichman at (620) 227-7209 or (800) 466-7209.
