After a five-year lapse, daily bus service is returning to southwest Kansas.

The Kansas and Colorado Departments of Transportation have signed an agreement with the Wichita-based Prestige Bus Lines to provide daily bus service between Wichita and Pueblo, Colo. A similar agreement for a route between Wichita and Salina is still in the works.
Under the agreement, Prestige will offer one round trip daily between Wichita and Pueblo and two each day between Salina and Wichita. Both routes should be up and running by late summer.
The Kansas stretch of the Wichita-to-Pueblo route would follow U.S. Highway 50, with stops in Hutchinson, Dodge City and Garden City. The Colorado portion would include stops in Holly, Lamar, Las Animas, LaJunta, Fowler and Pueblo.
The new route will act as a feeder line for Greyhound Lines, which does not currently have a route in southwest Kansas, Prestige Bus Lines President Dave Rockey said Wednesday.
