A Dodge City man pleaded no contest Wednesday to killing his infant son nearly two years ago.
Francisco Pablo-Bicente, 33, was originally charged with first-degree murder in the July 2008 death of Juan Pablo-Tino, but the charge was reduced to second-degree murder under a plea agreement with the Ford County Attorney's Office. Additional charges of child abuse and identity fraud were dismissed as part of the agreement.
The identity fraud charge stemmed from an unrelated case, in which Pablo-Bicente was accused of using another man's identity to get a job.
Deputy Ford County Attorney David Belling said evidence would show that Pablo-Bicente was babysitting his son on July 2, 2008, while his wife went to work. Sometime that night, Pablo-Bicente realized the baby had died and called his wife.
