Dodge City —

The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks will be offering a hunter education Internet-assisted course this summer. You must be at least 11 years old to take the course. Interested persons should call the Kansas Wildlife and Parks office at (620) 227-8609. Students must complete a course over the Internet and then attend a one-day class in August in Dodge City.     Kansas law allows anyone younger than 16 to hunt without hunter education certification if they are under direct supervision of an adult 18 or older.  Hunters 12 years of age and older may hunt without adult supervision provided they possess a valid hunter education certificate and the appropriate licenses and/or permits.
No one younger than age 11 can be hunter education-certified, but once a hunter turns 16, hunter education is required.
Each state now has a requirement for hunter education. Successful completion of this course awards the student a certificate that is honored by all 50 states.
If notified in advance, the department will have an interpreter available for the hearing impaired. To request an interpreter, call the TDD Service at 1-800-766-3777. Any individual with a disability may request other accommodations by contacting the Department of Wildlife and Parks at (620) 227-8609.
Equal opportunity to participate and benefit from programs described herein is available to all individuals without regard to their race, color, national origin or ancestry, religion, sex, age, handicap or disability.
Complaints of discrimination should be sent to the Office of the Secretary, Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, 900 SW Jackson, Suite 502, Topeka, KS 66612.
