    Sometimes the meetings pay off.
    After years of lobbying efforts, planning and construction, Dodge City's shiny new casino opened this month.
    After even longer efforts to secure funding, choose a development firm and complete plans, a groundbreaking ceremony took place in October for Dodge City's new special events center.
    And after years of participating in downtown revitalization meetings, the Dodge City Trail of Fame has embarked on a new project to create a Western heritage center.
