Dodge City’s National Guard Armory will remain open — at least for now.
The local armory was not on the chopping block Friday, when the Kansas adjutant general's office released its list of closures. Eighteen out of 56 armories across the state will close as a cost-cutting move, and the Kansas National Guard will consolidate operations at the 38 remaining facilities.
Dodge City officials were glad the local armory will stay open, said city spokeswoman Christa Roy.
"The city is pleased that our local Guard facility has escaped the state budget cuts," she said.
