In conjunction with the weekend's Hoops for Hope celebrity basketball tournament the Ashland Health Center and Comanche County Hospital will host an annual health day today. The event will include a community health fair, a lunch, a televised open forum for health care consumers (expected to draw 1,500 residents) and a closed forum for hospital administrators and physicians.
The health fair will be from 8 to 11 a.m. at Ashland Elementary School. It will include booths from organizations all over the region, and the focus will be on health care education and preventative care. Community emergency response services will provide helicopter rides to youth interested in careers in health care. A community lunch will be served at Ashland High school at 11.
