A Dodge City man who shot another man earlier this year will spend nearly five years in a juvenile correctional facility.
Lorenzo Gobin, 18, was sentenced Friday to 36 months for attempted second-degree murder and another 18 months for shooting at an occupied dwelling. The two sentences will run consecutively, totaling 54 months altogether.
Gobin asked the court to consider imposing less than the maximum possible sentence.
"I would very much appreciate it if you did not give me the maximum," he said.
But District Judge Leigh Hood said he would impose the maximum possible sentence. He noted Gobin's record included several previous offenses, which had escalated over time to include attempted second-degree murder.
