Dodge City Community College students Phuoc Bui and Pamela Maynez were named to the 2010 All-Kansas Academic Team, sponsored by the international headquarters of Phi Theta Kappa international honor society, the Kansas Association of Community College Trustees and the Kansas Council of Community College Presidents.
Bui, from Dodge City, is a pre-pharmacy major with a 3.91 grade point average. Some of his accomplishments include Phi Theta Kappa Chapter President; Student Government Association President/Treasurer/Representative; Hispanic American Leadership Organization member; Academic Challenge Team member; Peer Tutor; participant in many Phi Theta Kappa service projects; and President’s Honor Roll. He plans on transferring to Kansas State University.
Maynez, from Dodge City, is pre-med major with a 4.0 grade point average. Some of her accomplishments include Phi Theta Kappa Chapter Vice President of Scholarship; Peer Tutor; cheerleader; participant in campus blood drive and community pumpkin carving; homecoming candidate, and President’s Honor Roll. She plans to transfer to the University of Kansas.
Bui and Maynez were recognized at an awards ceremony at the Ramada Inn Hotel in Topeka on Feb. 18. Both will also be a nominee for the 2010 All-USA Academic Team, sponsored by USA Today, Phi Theta Kappa and the American Association of Community Colleges.
