The Children of the World International Children's Choir will make a stop in Dodge City Feb. 12, performing at three Sunday morning services at First Christian Church.
The choir is comprised of orphaned and disadvantaged children from several different countries. They are touring America, representing millions of innocent and hurting children who are suffering around the world.
Six thousand children die each day from water-related illnesses, according to information from World Help, a faith-based humanitarian organization. The choir's purpose is to generate compassion and inspire individuals to get involved by providing clean water to help save lives.
In addition to a high-energy and inspirational program of songs in both English and several native dialects, the choir will offer personal testimonies and information on the world water crisis.

Spreading the word
The choir is a project of World Help, which serves the physical and spiritual needs of people in impoverished communities around the world.
The organization has an adopt-a-child program in addition to the touring choir.
Susan Ridgway, worship arts minister at First Christian Church, said that everyone is welcome to come hear this special choir sing.
"The choir will be singing at all three services: 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. And we thought, with that many options, people could come hear the choir and still make it to their own services," she said.
While in Dodge City, the choir will stay with host families from Friday through Sunday. The host families also provide meals.
"The kids all speak English," Ridgway said, "and they are accustomed to American food, but we've been asked not to serve them pizza or candy or pop."
The members of the choir have classes between performances to keep up their studies.
"We get quite a few calls from groups touring the country — we're a good stop between Denver and Wichita," Ridgway said. "We chose this one because their cause, clean water, is something that's so important, but we tend to take it for granted."
There will be a love offering during each service, and proceeds will go to various clean-water projects. In addition, the choir will sell CDs and pass out information in the foyer.
