A nonchalant man wearing blue jeans with old, tan cavalry boots pulled up to his knees walked into the Daily Globe's office on Friday afternoon. A large brimmed cowboy hat fit neatly on his head. He sported a sharp-looking, silver goatee reminiscent of beards from the Civil War and Old West eras.
He was Tom Dean, an extra in the TV series "Crash", which featured Dodge City native Dennis Hopper as movie producer Ben Cendars. Dean was in the final scene of Hopper's career.
Dean said Hopper's character in the show was haphazard and took chances.
"He just kind of fit Dennis' character," he said.
In the scene, the camera is shooting over a table and Hopper is talking to a woman.
"And me and my dog (Shadow) are laying in the background," Dean said.
