     The first Final Friday of 2012 also marks the reopening of Carnegie Center for the Arts following its month-long winter break.
     In addition to the regular Final Friday reception, which will feature entertainment by local musician Richard Falcon, the center will announce four new board members. The Final Friday event will also serve as the organization's annual membership meeting and the kick-off of its 2012  membership drive. On exhibit will be the Southwest Kansas Student Art Show, which features work by students from Dodge City Middle School, Dodge City High School and Hodgeman County High School.
     The student work will be on display until Feb. 17, and a special reception for the student show will run from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 4.
     Following the student show will be an exhibit featuring the work of area artist Alan Bailey and, in March, the "Art Is Ageless" exhibit.
     The center's hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Just down the street
     2nd Ave. Art Guild also celebrates Final Friday at its gallery. Guest artist for this month is Jim Ford, a winemaker from the central coast of California.         Festivities at the gallery are from 6 to 8 p.m.
