Eula Fern Lang and Norma Jean Hamilton unfolded a small comforter and placed it on a table, displaying its pattern of red, white and blue fabric blocks.
The two Manor of the Plains residents were matching the backing and adding batting to the comforter, which would go to a Haitian orphanage. As they leaned over the table, they admired the vivid colors in front of them.
"It looks like America," Lang said as she studied the comforter. "They'll remember that for being from the United States  — red, white and blue."
For the past three years, the members of the Happy Quilters club have used their talents to make Haitian children's lives a little easier.
