Odessa Lindley, 80, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at her daughter’s Albuquerque, N.M., residence.
She was born May 2, 1930, at Memphis, Texas, the daughter of Elliott Horatio and Ellen Lorean (Adcock) Saunders. On June 23, 1951, she married Dalton Lindley at Memphis, Texas.
After her marriage she began her teaching career, having taught school in Spade, Abernathy and Snyder, Texas. In 1988, the couple purchased the Dalton’s Bedpost Motel in Meade, where they co-owned and operated the business.
She is survived by two daughters, Tanja Thornton and husband, Shawn, of Meade and Saundra Reece and husband Russ of Albuquerque, N. M.; two sisters, Lola Mae Cathy of Stratford, Texas, and Zelda Ray Smith of Amarillo, Texas; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dalton, on Dec. 1, 2000; her parents; and two brothers, Glenn Elliott Saunders and Johnny Saunders.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Christ, Meade, with Tom Elliott presiding. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
Friends may call from noon until 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
The family would welcome memorials to the Eastern New Mexico Children’s Home or the Tipton Children’s Home in care of the funeral home.
