    Johanna F. "Jennie" Eberle, age 81, a longtime Hays resident, died Thursday, September 2, 2010, at the Logan County Manor in Oakley, Kansas.
    Jennie was born September 17, 1928, in Hays to John and Frances (Lang) Haffner. She married Alvin Eberle on October 17, 1953, at Park, Kansas. He died July 24, 1999.
    She was a homemaker and a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the VFW Auxiliary, both of Hays.
    Survivors include her sons, Larry Eberle and his wife, Billie, of Oakley, KS, and Charles Eberle and his wife, Shelly, of Hoxie, KS; daughters, Delores Eberle of Cimarron, KS, and Jolene Amtower and her husband, Kirk, of Manhattan, KS; sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Miller of Hays, Mary Rohling of Hutchinson, KS, and Anna Albers of Selden, KS; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Adam, Lambert, Steve, Joe, Ray and John Haffner; and two sisters, Theresia Schlick and Veronica Schlick.
    Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 6, 2010, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Hays. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
    There will be a VFW Auxiliary service at 5:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine.
    Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 until 7 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
    A memorial has been established with the Parkinson's Foundation or for Masses in her name and memory in care of the funeral home.
