Bernard E. Weller, 88, died early Friday morning, Feb. 5, 2010, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade.
He was born July 21, 1921, in rural Meade County to Howard Eugene and Grace (Merkel) Weller. He married Alice Wallace on Feb. 13, 1943, at Manhattan. She survives.
He was a member of the United States Army Air Corps, serving during World War II. Upon his discharge, he returned to Meade County and continued his farming and ranching career.
Other survivors include two sons, Steve Weller of Meade and Bernard E. “Bernie” Weller Jr. of Dodge City; two daughters, Susan Watson of Hillsboro and Amy Zielke of Larned; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Montezuma, with the Rev. Jerry Odle presiding. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. today, with the family present from 5 until 7 p.m., and from 9 until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
