    Irene Burkhart Katz, 87, was born on Feb. 7, 1922, in rural Offerle. Her parents were Rose Fox and Will T. Burkhart.
    Irene went home to her Savior on Feb. 5, 2010.
    Country music was a very important part of her life. Irene played guitar and sang in several dance and country bands and did various concerts. She performed with the Sundown Serenaders along with her sister, Rita Haskell, and brother, Wilbur Burkhart, for a number of years.
    Irene married the love of her life, Leonard, on Aug. 3, 1961, and became a loving homemaker and mother. She was a member of St. Nicholas Church and the Daughters of Isabella.
    Irene was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Carlos and Wilbur Burkhart.
    Survivors include her husband, Leonard, and two daughters, Lorene and Wes Faulconer of Kansas City, and Loretta and Dr. Ozzie Binford of Corsicana, TX; sister, Rita Haskell and husband, Martin, of Kinsley; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Natasha and Mikhail Faulconer and Raven, Audrey and Isabella Binford.
    Funeral services will be held at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Kinsley, at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8th. Burial to follow at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Catholic Services in care of St. Nicholas Church or McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, Kinsley.
