Russell Dean Bird

Russell Dean Bird, 78, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, Larned.
    He was born Feb. 23, 1930, in Larned to Ralph Russell and Sarah Grace (Monger) Bird. On Sept. 24, 1960, he married Karen Ann Everett at Seward. She died Jan. 18, 1968. On Aug. 10, 1969, he married Bonnie Lou Deets at Garfield. She survives.
    He was a farmer.
    A lifetime resident of Pawnee County, he was a member of the United Methodist Church, Garfield, and a former member of the Catholic Church.
    Other survivors include four sons, Russell D. Bird Jr., Fowler, Charles R. and Randall R., both of Larned, and Alan L., Garfield; a daughter, Debbie Bird, Larned; and six grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by a son, Michael; a sister, Joyce Losey; and one grandson, Richard Traylor.
    The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with the Rev. Ryan Webster presiding. Burial will be in the Garfield Cemetery.
    Visitation will be from 9 a.m to 8 p.m. today at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.
