Frances Darlyne “Shorty “ Lorett, Kildare resident, died Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at her home, being 73 years old.
A memorial service will be at 10:00 on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at the First Baptist Church of Newkirk, with the Rev. Rex Roberts officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, outside of Yale, Oklahoma, in eastern Payne County with Ferlan Dean leading at the gravesite. Arrangements are made under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory of Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Shorty was born on October 2, 1936, in Cushing, Oklahoma, to Jess and Merle (Stratton) Blankenship. She attended Schools in Yale, Oklahoma, and Belle Plaine, Kansas, graduating in 1955. Shorty married Pat A Lorett on August 15, 1954, in the First Baptist Church, Yale, Oklahoma.
She was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church in Newkirk, Oklahoma, and a member of the PM and Patches quilt club of Ponca City. Shorty’s heart was filled with joy spending time with the grands, quilting, gardening, fishing and canning.
She is survived by her husband, Pat; sons Jess Michael Lorett of Buhler, Kansas, Tommy Lee Lorett of Salina, Kansas, and Donald Owen Lorett of Arkansas City, Kansas; a sister, Joann Bowman of Haysville, Kansas; 6 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Preceded in death by her parents, a sister and infant brother.
