Gary B. Honnold, 58, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, Calif., of cancer.
He was born Dec. 16, 1950, to Jack and Jeanne Honnold in Deadwood, S.D. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanne Honnold, on Aug. 19, 1996.
Gary graduated from Dodge City High School in 1969, served in the U.S. Navy and graduated from Emporia State University in 1976. He moved to California, where he was in the automobile business until he retired in 2007. He was able to attend his 40th High School class reunion last month in Dodge City.
Survivors include his wife, Alyson Honnold, of the home; his father, Jack Honnold and wife, Jean, of Dodge City; a sister, Pamela Bacon and husband, Chris of Overland Park; a brother, David Honnold of San Diego, Calif.; three stepchildren; and two grandchildren.
There will be no formal service. Cremation has taken place and ashes to be scattered over Catalina Island, where he and Alyson were married. Condolences may be sent to 400 62nd St., Newport Beach, CA 92663.
