Jean E. Shumate

Jean E. Shumate, 80, died Monday, May 19, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.
    She was born Nov. 19, 1927 to William and Mary Alice Collins Donnell at Guthrie, Okla.  She married Ronald E. Shumate on April 8, 1950 at Oklahoma City, Okla.  He survives.
    She was a longtime Minneola resident and homemaker.  She was a member of the Minneola United Methodist Church, Minneola.
    Survivors include her son, Randy and wife, Shelly, Minneola; daughter, Cindy Wischoff and husband, James, Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada; one brother, Byron Donnell, Harrah, Okla.; nine grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Catherine Jean and sister Lillian "Prue" Carriger.
    The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Minneola United Methodist Church with Rev. Kip Ryherd presiding.  Burial will be in the Appleton Cemetery, near Minneola.
    Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Minnis Mortuary, Minneola.
