Mildred Vera Olson, 86, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at her home in Dodge City.
She was born June 2, 1921, at Buhler to Henry and Martha (Vogt) Janzen. She married Lawrence "Ole" Olson on Nov. 16, 1940.
Mildred moved to Sylvia in 1935 and graduated from Sylvia High School in 1939. She attended beauty school in Hutchinson. She and her husband moved in 1946 to Dodge City, where she operated a beauty shop on Second Avenue for 15 years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Stephen Ministry of Dodge and Aglow International.
She will be remembered as one filled with love and laughter by all those who knew her.
Mildred is survived by her husband, Lawrence Olson of Dodge City; daughter, Connie Nixon, Tehachapi, Calif.; two sons, Ronald Olson of Plano, Texas, and Donald Olson of Cumming, Ga.; a brother, George Janzen of La Jolla, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Esther Anderson of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Dodge City, with the Rev. Lance Carrithers presiding. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Mullinville.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City.
