Butch Trent, 71, died Saturday, February 6, 2010, at the Kansas Medical Center, Andover.
He was born August 7, 1938, at Dodge City, the son of Cyril F. and Rhea R. Crego Trent.
A lifetime Dodge City resident, he was an area manager for Western Beverage in Dodge City and later was a truck driver for Praxair, retiring on September 1, 2000.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at Boot Hill Casino, Daylight Donut and Presto, or “Trent Mart” as he called it.
He served in the United States Army with the Paratroopers.
He was a life member of Howard Gotschall VFW Post 1714 and the GI Forum.
On August 29, 1970, he married Theresia Stevens at Dodge City. She survives.
Other survivors include: his son, Danny, and wife, Suleenia, Greensburg; 3 daughters, Kelley Gobin and husband, Craig and Shelley Walden and husband, Chris, all of Dodge City, and Shawna Trent and boyfriend, Jared Kidwell, Wichita; 2 sisters, Norma Bean, Great Bend, and Karen Rader, Dodge City; 9 grandchildren; and 1 great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lorea Abel.
Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, with Jeff Hiers presiding. The family requests casual attire at the service.
There will be no public viewing; cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday and 9:00 a.m. to service time Wednesday, both at Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
Inturnment will be at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Ft. Dodge, with military rites by Howard Gotschall VFW Post 1714.
