Dodge City —

As the outgoing, soon to be retired Ford County clerk and election officer, I would like to commend the two ladies who have filed for the county clerk position. They both have worked in my office since 2001, and either would make an excellent choice when you mark your ballot!
Karen Blankman was hired as my administrative assistant early into my first term. As such, she works closely with the commission minutes and official county records.
Sharon Seibel was hired a few months later as voter registration clerk and later appointed as deputy election officer.
My entire office staff works together, and most jobs have been cross-trained, so they both know have hands-on experience with other aspects of  the office. Many people do not realize the importance and statutory responsibilities of a county clerk. A good working relationship with not only the public, but with the county commission, other elected officials — local and state — and the county administrator is essential.
As a Republican Ford County voter, you will have an opportunity to nominate the next Ford County clerk and election officer. I know whichever candidate you choose, you will have selected a person who will serve Ford County to the best of her ability!

Vicki Wells, Ford County clerk and election officer
