I am writing in support of a person who would be an outstanding choice for attorney general of Kansas: Derek Schmidt.
Derek was born, raised and educated in Kansas, where he is now raising his family. He received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. An attorney, Derek worked his way up through the ranks of public service in several positions. He was elected to the Kansas Senate in 2000 and twice has been chosen by his peers to be majority leader of the Kansas Senate.
Here's what I appreciate most about Derek: His Kansas common sense. I have been working in rural and community development for a long time. Over the years, I have observed him work through lots of challenging public issues. Through it all, he has demonstrated wise, level-headed judgment and a concern for everyday, hard-working Kansans. He has worked very hard to hear from Kansans and to represent their concerns. HIs work on policy related to agritourism, food security, public safety and community development has been outstanding. He really knows Kansas and really cares about our people.
Derek Schmidt would be an outstanding attorney general and someone of which Kansans could be very proud. I encourage citizens to vote for Derek Schmidt for attorney general.
