Sen. Derek Schmidt has credentials for the office of attorney general of the state of Kansas few can match. As majority leader of the Senate and vice chair of both the Taxation and Judiciary Committees, he has logged countless hours of familiarity with the laws of the state of Kansas and has frequently been called upon to speak to the legislation that established the very laws the attorney general is required to enforce.
Sen. Schmidt has the experience of the courtroom as a practicing attorney and experience in a variety of capacities calling upon his knowledge of the law. He has the experience to supervise other attorneys as they carry out the functions of the practice of law.
