Leavenworth —

Recently in the news is an important story for Kansans because they will have the opportunity to vote online for one of their own to become the finalist in the Teleflora search for “America’s Favorite Mom.”
Jennifer Keller and her husband Nick of Home have adopted six drug-addicted children who have developmental problems and special needs. In spite of the fact that Nick’s work causes him to be gone two weeks of each month, Jennifer cared for three newborns at one point.
In addition and of prime importance in Jennifer’s mind is her work to get a bill passed that will mandate rehab for pregnant mothers. Passage of such legislation would make drug abuse during pregnancy illegal and would be a gift to all future children born to mothers living in Kansas.
Her labor of love for children was honored when she was selected out of 15,000 nominees to be selected as the only Kansas woman to become a semifinalist in the contest. Now it is up to Kansans to propel this outstanding woman and her cause to the top spot following the family’s appearance on the 8 to 9 a.m. NBC “Today” show on Thursday by voting online at NBC.COM.
