    Freedom of the press is taking a beating in Kansas.
    And that’s bad news for all Kansans.
    In December, District Judge Daniel Love ordered Daily Globe reporter Claire O'Brien to testify about information she obtained during a jailhouse interview with Samuel Bonilla, who is charged with shooting two men on Labor Day in the Arkansas River bed. In addition, the judge ordered O'Brien to identify an unnamed source who provided additional information for an Oct. 13, 2009, article based primarily on the interview with Bonilla.
    Then in January, Love dealt the Globe and O'Brien another blow when he rejected the newspaper's motion for a stay. If granted, the stay would have given the Globe's attorney more time to file an appeal with the Kansas Court of Appeals.
