I have been very excited to see the growth of the Angel Food Ministry in Dodge City. I wanted to take a moment to thank the management of Meade Lumber for their generous support of our food distribution on April 19. They sacrificially had one of their employees drive down with their fork lift and help us unload the truck. I would like to thank them and say how much I appreciate their generosity.
While I've been excited about this great ministry, I also believe it has really yet to tap into all the homes of people that might benefit from this ministry. In the day of rising food prices and gas prices, Angel Food can be used by any family as a good alternative and a good tool to cut one's budget. For $30, a person can purchase a box of high-quality food with a retail value of at least $60. There is no purchase limit for boxes of Angel Food. There are no applications or qualifications necessary to purchase. We do accept food stamps as well.
Generally, one box of Angel Food assists in feeding a family of four for about one week or a single senior citizen for almost a month.
It is an ongoing ministry, with a new quality menu every month. May's ordering deadline is fast approaching. All orders must be received in the church office by May 5 at noon. Current menus can be picked up at the church, participating businesses or on our Web site: www.fsbcdodgecity.com.
If you would be willing to have menus in your office or would like your employees or clients to know more about this ministry, please contact me at the church. It is a ministry that can be a help to everyone. If you do not want to take part, you may know of someone who would benefit from Angel Food. Help us spread the word.
First Southern Baptist Church makes no money from this ministry. The Angel Food corporate office sends us a donation check based on the number of boxes we sell. That money goes into our benevolence fund, which helps people in Dodge City and Ford County with day-to-day living expenses.
Angel Food is truly a ministry that is helping hundreds of people. Check
out this month's menu. For more information, go to our Web site or feel free
to call the church office at (620) 227-6722.
