Round 1

At the end of the first round of Friday, six Red Demons wrestlers advanced to the second round in the winner’s bracket.

Overall, Red Demon head coach Lars Lueders said it was not the strongest round for the Red Demons.

“A lot of our kids are new to varsity experience and (in their) first time in the State Tournament, and I think some of ‘em came out a little nervous,” Lueders said. “They were a little nervous and didn’t come out the way they should.”

Still, having six advance was not bad he said.

“With that said, winning six out of 10 even though we really didn’t wrestle well; That’s not bad,” Lueders said. “We just had a team meeting, and I hope they will just relax and wrestle the way that they know how to wrestle.”
