Hurdles and cannon shot will abound today as the Dodge City’s Memorial Stadium houses the Western Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships.

Field events start at 4 p.m. with the girls pole vault, followed by the boys one. Running events start at 6 p.m.

Garden City’s girls team won last year, while Liberal’s boys team won. Liberal’s boys team has won 18 times historically, more than all the other WAC teams combined, according to a release by Dodge City High School.

Medals will be presented at the conclusion of each event/race. Finally, the event is one of the final events in the American Implement Champions Cup. Should today’s events clinch the cup for one of the schools, the Cup will be presented at the end of of the meet.
