The Dodge City Red Demons softball team is heading to Garden City for their Regional, having beaten the Liberal Redskins 15-2 and 22-6 Thursday night.

The wins moved the Red Demons to 15-5 overall.

They'll take on Wichita West at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in the opening game of the regional bracket. The winner of that game will take on the winner of Garden City's game later that night against Hutchinson, which is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. The two winners will meet at 6 p.m., baring weather or other delays.

Run-leaders in the Red Demons' series Thursday included sophomore Elise Helfrich, junior Caroline Williams, senior Shaylyn Turner, senior Grace Ruehle and freshman Raemie Lopp, all of whom had a team-high five combined runs in the two games.

Ruehle and Helfrich tied for a team-high three runs in the first game, while Williams, Turner, Lopp and senior Jessica Olivarez had a team-high three in the second.

Lopp led the team in combined hits in the two games, with six total, four of which came in the second game. Turner and Ruehle finished with a team-high three hits in the first game.

Madeline Kalscheur led all Red Demons in runs batted in, with eight. In the first game of the doubleheader, she had a game-high six of them. In game two, Turner had a game-high four RBIs, finishing with five Thursday.
