We’re midway into the summer months and the championship chases at Dodge City Raceway Park continue to intensify with each passing race.
 
The next round takes place Saturday night with the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks taking to the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas.  Saturday’s green flag flies at 7:30 p.m.
 
Tickets for Saturday’s action are just $15 for adults while children 11 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.  Pit passes are $30.
 
Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars:
 
Getting the weekend off, Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars will resume action with the Friday night, July 27, Driver’s Appreciation Night.  With just four nights remaining for the Sprint Car ranks, Dodge City’s own Brian Herbert holds a 27-point lead over Liberal’s Koby Walters with fellow Liberal-ite Steven Richardson within striking distance as well in third.  Two-time and defending champ Taylor Velasquez has his work cut out for him with a deficit of 74 points in the fourth position.

The Mod title battle is a wide open affair with no fewer than eight racers still within reach of the 2018 crown.  With just four races in the books and six more on the docket, 2016 track champ Nick Link of Rolla holds a tenuous lead going into Saturday night’s action.

The competition continues to escalate in the Sport Mod ranks with the likes of Robert Elliott, Brandon Kenney and Daylon Bergeron capturing recent feature wins, but Woodward, Oklahoma’s Jeff Kaup is still on track for a fifth DCRP championship in six years with an 86-point lead over Brian May.
