Despite falling behind 1-0 early, the Conquistadors scored five unanswered goals on Friday to defeat Southwestern Christian University JV, 5-1, and collect their first win of the season.
After neither team could find the back of the net for the first 28 minutes of the first half, the Eagles were finally able to break the scoreless tie and get on the board first to take a 1-0 lead.
Just four minutes later, the Conquistadors responded with a goal of their own as Johnley Dezile scored on a pass from Eduardo Gabriel Da Silva to tie the game at one with just 13 minutes left in the first half.
Before the half was over, Dodge City added another goal as Bryan Etzold found Aries Yeverino open who found the back of the net to give the Conqs a 2-1 lead heading into the locker room.
The second half was dominated by the Conquistadors as Anthony Bolivar got things going with a goal just 12 minutes into the second half.
With 15 minutes left in the game, Joshua DonJuan was able to score his first goal as a Conquistaodr and extend the Dodge City lead to 4-1 late in the game. Before it was all over, Noe Cervantes was able to find Connor O'Neill to net Dodge City's fifth goal of the game and give the Conqs a 5-1 win in their second game of the season.
Dodge City will be in action again on Sunday, Aug. 26, as they travel to Murray State College at 12 p.m.
