After winning the first set of their second game, the Conquistadors could not keep the momentum as they fell to Trinidad State, 3-1 to drop both games on Saturday.
 
In the first game of the day, the Conquistadors took on Frank Phillips but could not find their stride as they lost in three sets.
 
In set one, the Conqs kept it close throughout, but the Plainsmen ended up taking over and winning the set, 25-21.
 
In set two, Dodge City battled but could not get the ball to fall as Frank Phillips won the set, 25-14. To finish the match, the Plainsmen kept the pedal down as they won the set, 25-17, to win the match, 3-0.
 
In the second match of the day against Trinidad State, the Conquistadors finally found their stride in set one, as they took down the Trojans 25-20.
 
Early in the second set, both teams traded points, but with the score tied at six, Trinidad State went on a 3-0 run to take a 9-6 lead. Trinidad State then began to pull away but the Conqs would not go down without a fight. Dodge City was able to cut the lead to four, but the Trojans eventually won the set, 25-18.
 
Late in the third set, the Trojans took a 21-14 lead, but the Conquistadors quickly cut the lead to 22-18, forcing Trinidad State to call a timeout. Dodge City was able to get the score to 23-21, but the Trojans scored the last two points to win the set, 25-21.
 
Throughout the fourth set, the Conquistadors and Trojans went back and forth until the Trojans went on a run and grabbed a 19-15 lead. After the Conqs cut the lead to two, Trinidad State finished the game on a 6-2 run to win the set 25-19.
 
Dodge City is now 0-5 on the year and will now be in action again on Monday, Aug. 27, as they begin KJCCC play on the road against Barton at 6:30 p.m.
