The Conquistadors began KJCCC play on Monday as they traveled to Barton Community College where they were swept by the Cougars by scores of, 25-13, 25-11 and 25-18.

Dodge City got behind early in set one and could never recover as Barton stepped on the gas and pulled away for a 25-13 win.

In set two, it was more of the same as the Barton offense continued to put the ball away and the Conquistadors could find a way to get on track, losing the set, 25-11 with the help of a 5-0 run by Barton.

After two sets, the Conquistadors would not go down without a fight. The beginning of the set went back and forth, but Barton was able to score four straight points to take a 9-6 lead. After Barton extended their lead to 16-10, Dodge City went on a little run of their own to cut the lead to 22-17 and force the Cougars to call a timeout. After the timeout the Cougars were able to to finish the game, only allowing one more point the rest of the set.

The Conquistadors are now 0-6 on the year and will be in action again on Wednesday, Aug. 29, as they travel to Colby Community College at 6:30 p.m.
