After a bounce-back win last week against the Salina South Cougars, the Dodge City Red Demons look to earn their second win of the season Friday night when they take on the Wichita Heights Falcons in Dodge City's Memorial Stadium.

The Red Demons are 1-1 after beating the Cougars 27-17 last week.

The Falcons enter Friday's game also at 1-1, having opened with consecutive home games. They won the first, against Maize South, 35-21, but lost last week against Bishop Carroll by a score of 36-20.

If the Red Demons win Friday night, they will have defied multiple historical trends.

According to an analysis of records on KPreps.com, last year's 6-4 season was the fewest wins a Falcons teams has had since 2008.

The Red Demons have had six or more wins only twice in that time: In 2009 when the Red Demons went 8-3 in Justin Burke's last year as head coach, and in 2010, when the Red Demons went 11-1 in head coach Dave Foster's first year.

That one loss in 2010, by a score of 42-38, came to eventual state-champion Wichita Heights in the state semifinals.

According to both Kpreps.com and Dodge City Athletics, the Red Demons are 0-8 since 2008 against Wichita Heights. In that time, the Red Demons have been outscored 333 to 160. Last year the Falcons beat the Red Demons 65-0.

The Red Demons take on the Falcons at 7 p.m. inside Memorial Stadium.
