The Dodge City Red Demons girls cross country team won the Western Athletic Conference Cross Country Meet Thursday at Great Bend.

Freshman Daisy Orozco finished first among Red Demons, crossing the finish line in a time of 16:30, good for fourth overall.

Senior Ayanna Hensley finished sixth overall in a time of 16:40, senior Caroline Williams finished seventh in a time of 16:42, junior Denise Dominguez finished eighth in a time of 16:44.5, and freshman Serenity Larson rounded out the top five scorers for the Red Demons, finishing ninth in a time of 16:44.8.

Outside of them, junior Ely Dorado finished 13th in a time of 16:55, sophomore Karina Herrera 20th in a time of 17:14, freshman Norma Rodriguez in 22nd place with a time of 17:22, sophomore Mariela Lopez in 23rd in a time of 17:24 and senior Lucy Lozano in a time of 17:36, good for 24th place.

The Red Demons are next in action at 10:00 a.m. Oct. 20 at the the Wichita-East High School Regional Meet, scheduled to take place at the Wichita-Cessna Activities Center.
