The Dodge City Red Demons girls cross country team competed at the State Cross Country Meet Saturday in Lawrence.

Overall, the team finished 11th.

“We were a little disappointed with our result at the state meet, but this meet doesn’t take away from what this group of girls has accomplished this season,” head girls cross country coach Brian Lenz said via email. “WAC and regional champions as well as the jv girls getting a perfect score in winning the jv race at WAC. Our future looks good but we will miss the seniors, Ayanna Hensley who became the first Dodge City runner to be on a regional champion team 3 times, Caroline Williams who ran at state twice, and Lucy Lozano who ran in 2 state meets and was one of our alternates this year.”
