The Dodge City Community College baseball team split its third doubleheader in a row on Monday.
The Conquistadors lost the first game 6-5 and won the second game 6-5.
Dodge City is now 15-15 overall and 10-10 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference. Colby is now 10-6, 17-14.
Going into the seventh inning in the first game, Dodge City had a 5-3 lead and starting pitcher Nolan Snell was trying to complete the game.
Snell gave up a couple of hits to start the inning, and Evan Krist entered the game.
Colby put up three runs to walk away with the win.
“They got hits when they needed them,” Dodge City head coach Phil Stephenson said. “I don’t think Nolan and Krist made bad pitches, but they hit it where we weren’t.”
Every player in the Conquistadors lineup had a hit, and no DCCC batters had more than one hit in the first game.
Colby took a 1-0 lead early in the second game, but Dodge City scored three runs in the third and led the rest of the game.
Seth Means had three hits and a double for Dodge City in the second game and Cole Skriver and Krist both had doubles.
The Conquistadors play Trinidad today in a doubleheader at 2:05 p.m. at Cavalier Field.
Stephenson said freshman Kevin Kimball will start the first game and he is unsure about the second game.
