On Saturday afternoon, the Dodge City High School bowling team took part in the Great Plains High School tournament hosted by Wichita Heights, Maize and Wichita North.
The Demons fielded one team each in the boys and girls category, as the Red Demon boys defeated Bishop Carroll in the championship match to bring home the hardware for head coach Tyson Clark.
Dodge City finished first in the 24-team field, defeating Wichita Heights in the quarterfinals, Wichita Northwest in the semifinals and Bishop Carroll in the title match to grab the tournament crown.
The tournament consisted of a three-game match set with the top five out of six series used to figure team scores. Then, each team rolled 12 games using the bakers team format.
The field was then cut to the top eight teams, where the teams were seeded one through eight and faced-off in a best two of three games using bakers team match play format.
Leading the way for the boys was Christopher Herbert, who rolled a 677 series during the seeding process. The other Red Demon bowlers include Tanner Dalton (657), Kaden Herbert (622), Dylan Woods (610), Patrick Bilslend (594) and Daniel Calvin (554).
As for the Lady Demons, they finished in 17th position out of 24 teams. They were paced by senior Chantel Smith, who fired off a 604 series during the team's first three games. The other Lady Demon bowlers include Amanda Simmons (510), Bridgett Schlereth (405), Elizabeth Del Real (400), Vanessa De La Cruz (312) and Samantha Reyes (241).
The team will next be in action this afternoon as they host the Dodge City Baker's Invite at 2:30 p.m. at Spare Tyme Bowl.
