    They set their goals early.
They knew what they wanted out of the 2009 season.
And on Saturday, they got it.
The Dodge City High School Red Demons varsity volleyball team got their Western Athletic Conference title, one of the main goals of the season, winning all four of  their matches on Saturday.
The Demons started the day with a match against Garden City, which they won in two easy sets, 25-17, 25-23, which advanced them against Liberal.
The Demons battled against the Redskins in two close matches. In the end, DCHS came out with a 28-26, 26-24 victory.
The triumph over Liberal led them to a match against Garden Bend Panthers. The Demons were too hot for the Panthers, winning 25-23, 25-18.
Their third win on the day brought them to the last match of the day against the Hays Indians.
It seemed as though the Indians were no match for the Demons, who won in two sets, 25-20, 25-17, to snare the  WAC championship.
"Azlynn Thompson had a great day at the net," DCHS coach Kate Szymczak said. "She led the team in blocks and kills, and Mallory Ratts led the team defensively having the best percentage of digs in her career."
The Demons now get the chance reach their next goal, winning the Class 6A sub-state crown. They will head to Haysville-Campus on Saturday to make that happen.
