In a Western Athletic Conference showdown that turned into a slowdown, Dodge City High School held Hays scoreless the final 4:28 of regulation Tuesday night and grabbed sole possession of first place in the WAC with a 50-42 victory.
DCHS (13-2), ranked fifth in Class 6A, improved to a WAC-leading 4-0. It used a game-ending 10-0 run as Hays (11-5, 3-1) went dormant down the stretch.
