South Gray, Spearville lead all-conference selections

    The Class 1A state champion South Gray High School girls led the Southern Plains-Iroquois  Athletic Association with three players named first-team all-league.
    The Rebels’ Mikayla Skidmore, Brigit Hesser and Kayla Thomas are joined on the first team by Jetmore’s Shelby Cossman, Minneola’s Kara Minor and Spearville’s Megan Stein.
    The three Rebels helped lead South Gray to a 28-0 season, capped off with an overtime victory against Argonia to win the state championship.
    On the boys side, South Gray is tied with Spearville with the most first-team players at two.
    Chase Clancy and Ricky Friesen of South Gray are joined by Spearville’s Willie Cauley and Carson Konrade. Bucklin‘s Zach Kruetzer, Meade’s Kellan Hernandez and South Central’s Clay Jarnagin also were selected to the first team.
    Both South Gray and Spearville reached the state tournament. Spearville lost in the first round, and South Gray was defeated in the championship game.
