DODGE CITY —

Mother Nature put a damper on Monster Energy drink night at Dodge City Raceway Park. Rain ended the races just before the feature events were scheduled to get underway
IMCA Monster Modifieds headlined the program with United Wireless IMCA Stock cars, NAPA Thunders, and Hornets rounding out the lineup. Dodge City Harley Davidson Sprints were a late addition to the program by way of invitation.
The Harley Davidson Sprint series opened heat race action. The track was fast and tacky and the boys and girls sliced it up with two and three wide racing.
Brooke Boyd and Tyler Knight won the two sprint heats before the rain ended the evening.
IMCA Monster Modifieds hit the track next. Heat race winners included Mike Lunow, Scott Brown, and current Monster Modified point leader Dale Wanger.
United Wireless IMCA stockers rolled out two frantic heat races. Garden City native Trevor Wadel held off Tony Corpening and Cole Wilson to grab a heat race win. Heat race number two saw Bart Baker carve up the field coming from outside row three to steal a heat race win.
Dalton Bauer started on the point for the Thunder heat and drove his 80D to victory lane despite hard charges from Ray Blackburn, Alan Nau, and Ty Foskul.
The Hornets buzzed onto the track with Randy Jackson leading the field to the green. David Guinn maneuvered into the top spot on lap six and never looked back. Randy Jackson locked down the runner up slot as Justin Schulte worked his way to third.
With mild temperatures and overcast skies the track was shaping up well for main event action but Mother Nature moved in just as the feature lineups were being staged and track officials made the call to end the night. Spectator tickets (paid tickets) are good for 1/2 price against the August 16th race.
Points for classes will be determined by IMCA ruling.
